I recently moved from Virginia to Maryland and have been wanting to post prices in my area. Found the stations on the master list and added them to my favorites, but when it came time to post the prices, none of the stations were listed under my favorites. I had to go in and manually put these same stations under my favorites.

I like the gas buddy site immensely and wish that it would be easier to change your state and info. I still go into Virginia since I am still in the DC metro area and could post VA prices, but it is more practical for me to post what I see every day.

Any suggestions on making it easier to change to another state, but still remain a GasBuddy??

guzzlr - There is no reason to log onto a different state or metro site to report prices if you are using the map.

You can get stations in different states onto one FSL so that you log onto only one site. It is a somewhat convoluted process but either jrsva or I will post it for you if you are interested.

I have had the same problem living in the NYC area for a few years now. I can have 3 gas buddy sites here, so maybe 3 "logins". Hopefully the admins will merge the sites so we wont' have to do this. For now, I log into the other site to enter the data (via the map or favorite station page) if I have the patience.

I see that you’ve gotten your home site changed to Maryland. Scrapheap’s suggestion to post prices from the map is probably the best method for an area with a huge number of stations, like the MD/VA suburbs of DC. Go to Map Gas Prices and enter your zip code in the search box to bring up stations near you. If not everything is showing, go to the lower right corner of the map and change the Time setting to All Stations. You can then drag the map to whatever other location you need or just enter a new zip code. The only real problem is that the base map is so grossly out of date that some stations are on roads that do not exist on the map.

It is also possible to create a multi-state FSL. It is somewhat complicated. I will post directions here if that is of interest.

BTW, the easiest way to post prices across state lines is to use the maps. You can access all of the continental US from any of the sites.

To change your home site, send a note to the moderators.

You can log onto the Maryland site without changing your home site and create an FSL there. Your current username and password will work on all GasBuddy sites.
