Why call it an opinion poll question if the majority of the questions are fact-based and not opinion-based? Maybe change the title to "Weekly Poll"?

I don't consider "we already asked that question" to be an automatic veto. Sometimes the follow-up comments indicate that the original question may have been improperly worded; also, even re-asking an equivalent question with different keywords, or with answers in a different order, will tell you something interesting.

To follow-up lwren1367's comment, I would have no problem if they simply resurrected old questions rather than take the view that "we already asked that question..." First, there are many more members now, many (if not most who haven't seen the question asked (nor do they go back to review the old questions, as well as many people likely having changed answers.

But calling it a Weekly Poll is as good as calling it anything else.

Why call it an opinion poll?

At a minimum, it's an aspirational goal.

Sometimes the fact polls yield interesting comments, such as stories in the still active flat tire poll. But mundane polls such as when did you wash your car? or when did you last change your oil? are fairly useless, generally.

Recently we've managed to run a bunch of true opinion polls. I think that's easier to do when prices are rising.

I not think it really matters what it is called, most members are just going there for the points. Seems like the polls have gone south the last six months anyway, who cares about all the car questions. There is way to much going on in the world that deals with the price of oil, gas, and other things that this site is about to not be asking about them. I know the questions are member driven and submitted, but maybe as a user of this site we need to look at what this site is about when we suggest questions vs coming up with questions like how much money did you spend on gas last year.
