The Department of Energy released its Weekly Status Report on petroleum inventories this morning, with preliminary reports indicating we would see a large drop in crude oil inventories.

The report was released a short while ago and indicated a loss of 3.8 million barrels of crude oil in inventories last week, a drop of 1.1%. This week, crude stocks are just 20 million barrels higher than they were last year, a drop from the 55 million barrel difference we saw in August.

(READ MORE!) Gasoline inventories rose 2.2 million barrels last week, leaving them nearly 6% higher than a year ago, and the highest level since early-October. However, gasoline demand has increased 1.2 million barrels per day over the last four weeks compared...

Crude inventories fluctuate all the time... only reason this is news is because it drives speculators to come into the crude oil futures market, which drives the price up... then the greedy refiners boost the wholesale price of gasoline and diesel, which makes it jump at the pump, using the crude oil futures prices as a cover for their greed.

No matter what crude does short of dropping way down, pump prices will stay the same or rise due the the holiday season. Prices will fall in January when there will be a big decline in driving.

of course the inventories are dropping. big oil has taken over half of the oil rigs offline. they want inventories to drop so they can claim shortages and the speculators can jack the price back up.

Chavez, you need to take over american oil companies so that american citizens can get a fair price on oil and not enrichen speculators and oil barons.

I don't believe any of these reports are accurate and are just another excuse to manipulate the market.

The data about oil inventory stockpiles seems to contradict previous reports indicating high reserves and continued low demand. Credibility is critical.

It's good that we cut our use of oil by 3% over last year. I'd like to see us do a lot more of that. We need to get off oil as quickly as possible.

Just wait until the EPA starts the CO2 Tax, we will soon see $5.00 a gallon tax to support the false global warming agenda.
