How hypocritical can you get.? Canadian government ( Harper) has given Ford of Canada a $80 million dollar package. So called objective is to sustain 727 jobs. Sounds great. Problem is the top 5 Ford honchos pay package in 07 was more than that. Appears to me that the Ford exec should take pay cuts for there dismal performance, rather than CANADIAN TAXPAYERS subsidising there mediora performances.Guese we know where Harper is going to get his donations from for the snap election.Or is it a co inki dink?

Yes, this is reprehensible...the US gov't in the past subsidized the auto mfr's & look where it got them - plants closed in the US & moved to Mexico - same will happen here & all that money (OUR money) will have been donated to Ford's cause for nothing!

Flaherty (buying votes in Oshawa) must be reading former AB premier Don Getty's playbook on how to throw taxpayers' hard-earned money at failing corporations who still fail anyway - there are abandoned brand new plants all over AB (1 just a few km from where I live) that are owned by the AB gov't & have stood empty for 15+ yrs, monuments to the Getty era, a reminder of where no gov't should ever go again...took us 12 yrs of pain under Ralph Klein to pay off the $8.5 billion debt Getty racked up bailing out corporations that failed anyway b/c they weren't viable & left AB holding the bag...I hope pompous Flaherty loses his seat...

As for Harper, he's strayed a long way from his roots...Note: (1) the 1st paragraph after the bolded list of proposals (in light of today's announcement by his gov't) and (2) imagine the tone of this letter if written today when AB's NET contribution to federal vote-buying coffers is $13+ billion!

Failing businesses should be allowed to fail - let the market speak...
