ShanC:Trust me when I say my family lives by the same rule to. We have been doing this for a long time. We believe in helping and giving away more than keeping for ourselves. We love to do this. I just wonder how many others there are out there that do it also.

So sorry dun4now. I realize you don't know anything of my family. I have 4 children ranging ages 18,17,15,3. "Pooh" for us is short for Pooh Bear. You know the cartoon pooh bear and tigger? We own the whole collection, and in one of them tigger trys to spread pooh bear all over the gardens helping all their friends, but he spreads him to thin, because one person can only take on so many tasks at a time. I meant no vulgarity towards you. It's something thats common among us. I should have explained myself. Attacking people is not what I do. That is not who I am. If I at all made you feel that way, I do apologize.

So that's the Christian way eh littlefour, to attack people who feel down by dumping your pooh on them. God is watching. Thought we were not allowed to attack people with vulgarity, and what about the second rule in the forum?

Dun4now: Pooh on you. That's the problem with some people today. It takes time for it to come back to you. Besides the whole idea of Paying It Forward is not to get something back in return. If we all were to think like you, noone would be polite, forgiving, and helpful. What you do for someone else is to make you yourself feel good about yourself, no more. Sounds like you have self esteem issues, and I mean that in a nice way not rudely. You have to love yourself before you can love someone else.

"Faith without good deeds (works) is dead"
James 2:15-17 ~ Suppose you see a brother or a sister who needs food or clothing and you say, "Well, Good-bye and God bless you; stay warm and eat well" - but then you don't give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? So you see, it isn't enough just to have faith. Faith that doesn't show itself by good deeds is not faith at all - it is dead and useless.
I too, like to pay it forward. One of my favorite ways is to pay a toll for someone else on a highway. Usually we do this when we are heading to or home from the shore. There is a by-pass that is $2 to enter and $2 to exit. I enjoy paying for the person behind me in line and don't even miss the $4 at all!! It is sometimes interesting the reaction you get when they realize what just happened. Sometimes they pass me and wave with big smiles. But, even if I don't see their reaction, just knowing that I may have made someone's day is enough for me!

I pay it forward to unexpected victims.
What I do is..
I get little candle holding cages of all sorts from the DAV store. I put some screening in it and place the butterfly crystals in them. When ever the mood hits me, I approach someone with my little surprise; be it in church, the grocery store, a nurse in a hospital, my meal on wheels buddies, etc.
I personally like that dumb look on their faces, like what's this? What really tickles my fancy is when they come back to me in a week or two, so excited because they had never watched an emerging butterfly hatch before.
I love seeing their excitement, the smile on their faces and the twinkle in their eyes. What tops it all off is that they show me their butterfly pictures and that they too, share this with their friends.
It's amazing what a little butterfly can do to warm one's heart. ♥

That's a great concept..."pay it forward"....Jesus said, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!"
My wife is a hairdresser and has a super sweet client, Nicky, who's in her 80's and her husband passed over about 20 years ago and she's very poor but lives alone and even manages her very old house. Her boys live far away so I've kinda adopted her and go over to help fending fences, cleaning her gutters, cutting away limbs that have grown over the house, etc.
She wants to pay me but I tell her I'm not doing it for money, I'm doing it for her! (I started helping her after she told my wife she had been up on her roof clearing the tree limbs off of her roof because she didn't have anyone to help her...boy was I mad when I heard that...she's over 80!!)
Be a blessing...in word AND in deed...just keep your eyes open for an opportunity...they're all around you!

I finally got to see the movie "Pay It Forward" this weekend. It is a very good movie. A 7th grader came up with this concept. You help 3 people and each one of them help 3 people, now you have 12 people involved. Each of them help 3 people and your up to 27 people involved. It will spread fast if we follow thru. I helped my neighbor lady with baby supplies last weekend, she has her grandchildren everyday ( about 6 of them, all toddlers) due to the parents not wanting them around, so they just drop them off at grandma's with no supplies. She asked me how much she owed me, I told her to just "pay it forward" to 3 other people when she can. I am helping my brother and his wife get thru difficult times with their marriage. I bought them the Fireproof movie and the Love Dare Journal for each of them. My brother also asked me how much do I owe you. I told him just "pay it forwar" to 3 others when you can. I have one more to go. This is very rewarding come on and join in.

I haven't seen that one yet. I guess I need to watch more tv. Or maybe just pay attention to the commercials instead of muting them! haha

I love the commercial of a very tall manly man, Dad practising the cheer leader shout outs with his daughter. It's cute how he gets down to be a girly man. He's right out there on the side walk, right beside his daughter for all to see and hear, spending precious time with his little one shouting out cheering leader calls.
As he would say, one more time...
It's adorable. Have you guys seen it?

I agree whole-heartedly with the thought of random acts of kindness. Plus, it is so much fun to do that. I like the commercials on tv that actually show paying it forward. I don't even remember what the point of the commercial was or who it was they were advertising for, but the point of kindness came across loud and clear!
