As gas prices rise, no relief in sight at pump

The Wall Street Journal --
U.S. gasoline prices jumped 6% in February, and market experts predict they will climb higher because critical refining operations in the Northeast are shutting down.

From New York to Philadelphia, refineries that turn oil into gasoline have been idled or shut permanently because their owners are losing money on them. Sunoco Inc. is expected to close the region's largest refinery in July, taking another 335,000 barrels per day in production capacity off the market. The East Coast refineries are getting squeezed by the soaring cost of crude oil, the major component in gasoline. all the more reason to find another energy source and actually use it! When people have no choice but to do that, they will either adapt or they will fail. Natural selection is a bitch

an energy policy that allowed more domestic drilling, more refining capacity and access to Canadian oil would certainly have had a positive impact on prices

The fuel prices in the Philly Metro area have jumped considerably in the last month, especially Diesel, going from $3.51 to $4.50 since Feb 16.

and yet people want to punish oil companies for the 'excessive profits' they make... meanwhile the price of gasoline goes up because its very hard to make money on small margins

There won't be any relief as long as the Obama Administration and the EPA continue their vendetta against the oil industry.

Its a matter of time when this economy permanently crashes. Nobamas smoke and mirror tactics on how well the economy is doing are what they are smoke and mirrors. Watch by the end of the summer more companies will shut down and go out of business, unemployment will sky rocket and then what??? Novemember is too far away but if we make it that far we have to vote him out!

Still don't understand how the refineries that make the gas can't turn a profit, even if it means higher prices.. we have to have it..

I will be pleasantly surprised if I don't end up paying $5.00 for gasoline sometime this year. That is revolting! How does our economy keep running with transportation costs that high?

Remember what happened when gasoline spiked a few years ago? Gas stations had to close because the credit card fees took all the profit from the sale. Nothing left to make payroll. Of course 'Bama doesn't understand that because he never even ran a paper route. Now refineries are closing because they can't make money!?!?!? Something is very wrong with this picture. By rights we should have $5 gas or higher now just to insure a steady flow of fuel.

no relief in sight at the pump, but just inside the doors, is a men's room. That provides some relief.
