The gas price disaster that didn’t materialize

Politico -- Remember the $6 we were all supposed to be paying for a gallon of gasoline about now?

It didn’t happen, despite the dramatic predictions from armchair pundits, political candidates and some in the media.

Instead, gasoline has settled around $3.40 a gallon as of Monday — rising for the moment, although perhaps nearing what some fuel-price experts consider a plateau of sorts. But credible analysts concede that too many variables are at play for any certainty.

“The real truth is no one really knows. There’s so many unknowables,” said Guy Caruso, former head of the U.S. Energy Information Administration under President George W. Bush.

Among the complex ingredients are possible future conflicts in the Middle East or a global economic crisis, as well as the strength of the U.S. dollar and

Try and find $3.40 gas in my area. Oil is the new currency and the price has nothing to do with supply and demand.

Has anyone heard the fat lady sing? - my apologies to those of us who are less than sveldt. My point being, this opera "ain't" over yet. I certainly expected to see a heroic effort to get prices trending down before the elections. If Obozo is re-elected (Heaven forbid) I think we will see prices north of $5, but if sanity returns to Americans, perhaps that can be avoided. NObama 2012.

Don't forget; the pundits behind these presumptions have back-door connections with the Wall Street speculators who do have an effect on prices with their market manipulation. They all had it wrong this time.

Remember the less than $3 a gallon we were supposed to be paying at the pump? The veriables at play are the speculators, the media, the analysts and the so called experts that help keep the price of a barrel of oil and the price at the pump inflated.

What a crock! The "Unknowables" Are how much do they think they can get away with bleeding us dry and still stay out of jail. Six dollars a gallon would be pushing it a bit. But if they thought they could get away with it we would be paying $6, You can bet on it.
