Hello from St. Charles

Re: "The value of going to alternatives, especially hybrids and electric vehicles to quit paying people who hate us money more than makes up for any incentives and costs to move to them. To pretend we can keep doing what we're doing and somehow it'll get better or a different result is the definition of insanity." True enough. However, EVs and Hybrids use rare earth materials scarcer than oil and mainly found in China. EVs are definitely not ready for prime time. Oil and coal are known quantities and the US is rich enough in both of these materials for quite some time. True enough, we import too much foreign oil. But the alternatives aren't any prettier at this point in time.

Forcing a move to alternative energy when it doesn't make economic sense, does not make sense to me.

re: "So your answer is to ignore what's happening now with Big oil manipulating the prices and "ass-u-me the price of alternatives and electric will go up as high as oil. Since you got the old ESP fired up, tell us what the answer to the oil price problem is. Don't give me the drill here, drill now BS, we are exporting gasoline right now to keep prices up." No. You are assuming what I believe. However, if you do start using electricity or natural gas it will indeed drive prices up as there will be more demand for the product. And that cost will spread into other areas. We need to use all sorts of fuel sources and oil will be a big player as will coal for a number of years (probably decades).

Re: "In other news, gasoline exports are at an all time high to keep prices high here. No matter what we do and how much we do it they'll manipulate what they need to, to keep prices up. Electrification and alternatives are THE ONLY ANSWER." Not likely!!! Electricity prices and the alternatives will then be taxed at a higher and higher level.
