My first car was a '51 flat head Ford Victoria Coupe... was a super car... I can't count the number of times I took that one down to pieces and built her back up - you could do that "back in the day" I tried flying and liked it, but my instructor crashed my favorite plane, a Piper tail dragger and while he was healing up, I ran out of money (kids do that to you!) I had a bunch of fast European cars... favorite was a Porsche 914-6 with beefy suspension, a 911-E engine (traded my 911-T for that) and big tires... Got a ticket on the Berkshire Spur of the NY Thruway for 150!

Actually, I go back to $0.15-$0.17 for regular... the $0.35 was high-test in the early 1970s before the embargo when prices shot up to $0.55 a gallon... I don't have 450 HP in my ride, but I get well over 30 mpg in mixed and 35-40+ on the highway (I still have a "heavy foot" so I have to be careful or the fuel economy goes out the window) Even though I am an old pharte, I'd like to live to see much of the CO/CO2/etc issues solved

Even though to have pump prices below $2 would be nice on many pocketbooks, it also might prompt many non-thinking people to buy bigger and less fuel efficient vehicles again, which would change the demand curve, raising prices all over again. Heck, I long for the days when I could put ten gallons of hi-test in my car at a Hess station for about $3.60, but we live in the now, and we'd better keep an eye on what we pump into the atmosphere or parts of New Jersey and New York will be under water...

I looked at http://www.riversidegsprices.com (the site I was on when I lived in California) and http://www.riversidegsprices.com for New Jersey. There were 6 stations in Riverside County, California (about 60 miles East of LA) at $3.29 vs 1 station in Carteret at $2.69 (CASH) and 1 in Newark at $2.69 and, according to GasBuddy, California average price is $3.646 while New Jersey averages $3.072, still a $0.57 difference. I will certainly grant you that the highs will come near LA or San Francisco and be closer to $4, but those represent specific cases, not averages Locally, we are down under $3, but our supply and transport system won't have us dipping much lower. New Jersey is real compact, whereas Tennessee, and especially California are really spread out, so transport and special blending requirements play a huge role in the pump price

What counties do you report prices on?

A BIG CONGRATS on reaching that 2.5M mark and your nice new red big truck! : ) Wow! Truly awesome! Keep leading the way for others to follow here in GasBuddyland! More than 90% of all the GBs that signed up over the past 13+ years will never make it to 1M points, most GBs quit before they even get close, there are less than 10,000 GBs out of more than 8 million GBs that have reached 1M points and their first red car! :( Others ahead of you have retired, so there is lots of room at that 3M milestone, there only 1,290 GBs that have continued on to 3M, most GBs retire between 3M and 4M! Keep going, don't stop now! It's nice seeing you come back each day as I track your progress to that 3M milestone! Thanks buddy for your 7+ years of dedication here on GasBuddy! Have a nice week! Ron
