When youget into an accident the authorities will have a hard time distinguishing car from victim...but good gas mileage.

It is tiny car; hence the good mileage. I would not want to be in an accident in it.

From my experiences with this Chevy class is that the Aveo got similar mileage to the Sonic, but the Sonic was faster. And I get about the same gas mileage in my 04 Malibu...which is bigger, better handling, and quieter.

GM is having to work to overcome a history of half-hearted compact cars. From the Vega and Chevette (if you don't remember it, look it up) through the Caviler and Aveo, GM has looked at small cars as something only the poor drive and thus produced poor small cars.

gnus, no, I suppose union demands and management acquiescing had absolutely nothing to do with the ultimate decline. Couldn't be. Nope. Not possible. High wages and high benefits contributed not one iota. You are right that is not a fact. I am delusional for thinking so.
I admit it-- I DO think that; therefore (in your world) I would have to be delusional.
Thank God I do not live in your virtual world.
Do you know why Democrat brains for transplant cost 10 times as much as Republican brains? The Republican brains are used.

gnus: the UAW had a portion (even though tangentially) in the problems. But, frankly, it's spilled milk. Time to look ahead.

As to those decrying my mentioning the Metro. I know some that are running great with more than 300,000 miles.
Since they stopped making them in 2001 the biggest problem is the parts ae harder to get through Chevy......
That is why they need to make and sell the Triplets -- all three of them. And make sure they are built and perform as well as the Metro/Swift.

Apparently movr has problems with facts ... and relies on fantasies....and delusions...The UAW didn't cause the GM problems. Saying so is just delusional.

29 city isn't what I would call good. I get more than that with a 2005 vehicle and usually around 40 highway (about 36-38 if I go 65 or more most of the time). Why can't GM produce something better?

If the Aveo was mediocre bring on more. I tooj a ride one day with my friend in his Aveo. He drives an awful lot and his Aveo had just passed the 100,000 mark. It was doing pretty good too.

movr, you've been on here long enough to see a lot of those comments. ------------------------ Yep, you are right. I should know better, but sometimes, I can't help myself! ====================================
I see my previous comment actually was not all that clear...I was referring to the first poster, not the one who replied to him, followed by my remark.
Going back to sleep now.

I saw a comment down there about bringing the Geo Metro back. While it did what it was supposed to, and very well, it wouldn't pass today's safety or emissions standards. All you can do is buy a used one, but good luck with that, they all have a quarter million miles and 3 cylinders weren't made for that. I suppose it would still be cheaper to buy one, completely overhaul it from engine to suspension, and paint it than to buy a Pious

"Hopefully GM has learned its lesson now... and will ignore the idiots from the GOP that drove them into bankruptcy...." ----------------- Oh, did you mean the UAW? ---------------------- Yep. That must be who he meant. Can you believe a comment like that? They are among us. It was stupid management and stupid unions.

GM still needs to market a replacement for the old Metros (Swift). It was one of the few winners they had in the last 20 years...

seems posters are drooling about Romney.....guess they don't work for a living....
As for me, the Sonic matches up with the Nissan Versa pretty well, and gets better gas mileage.
It means Americans are working. They have jobs. And even though pay is diminished, they can at least afford to buy a vehicle.Under the GOP plan, no Americans could afford a new car -- unless the "work" on Wall Street.

gknee: the bailout money has been paid back, and the bailout itself was to prevent great losses among the autoworkers. If there hadn't been a bailout we would have seen GM and Chrysler shutter the factories and simply lay everyone off. That would have certainly put a damper on the economy, don't you think? So, if you buy GM or Chrysler, you are simply supporting the fact that these people still have jobs.
