Sadly, none. One of the bigger problems here is that there are a ton of vehicles that shouldn't be on the road.

Vehicle Inspection and emisions. Which is only a test to see if your gas cap is ok.

And that was the whole purpose of pulling me over in the first place.
They ALWAYS say to see if I have my Driver's Licence on me . . .

Depends on where you live within the state. Urban areas require emissions testing.

What type(s) of vehicle inspections are required where you live?
Safety and emissions is required in California. This is due to the lack of understanding on the part of California drivers that routine maintenence is an ongoing responsibility of the owner/driver. So, big-brother has to keep an eye on them.

Texas Requires a yearly Safety inspection which includes and emission inspection.(About (about $30.00) We are also require to have a Texas registration sticker for our car My Car is ($55)

when one takes the driving test, the vehicle is checked for safety (windshield and wipers, lights and signals, mirrors, seat belts, horn, and such) before the test can proceed, but that is the only time one encounters this. ə

Chattanooga,TN has emissions testing. It should be suspended because a lot
of vehicles that are registered in north Georgia and smaller surrounding
counties in Tennessee do not require testing. Many diesel busses and trucks
pass through. School busses do not get tested. Testing is important but
all vehicles that are here on a regular basis need to be tested.

Totally agree with you. There's a ton of non safety compliant junk on the metro roads of OKC. Out & about all over the metro, I constantly see vehicles on the roads with broken tailights, threadworn tires, busted windshields, missing mirrors, tailights out. At least once a week I'll see some collision damaged junker being driven on I44 or I235 with no front header panel & headlights. Oklahoma needs to re-institute a safety inspection, & get the junk off the roads, too many motorists at risk.

When I lived in British Columbia it was Emissions. In Alberta I can register a vehicle without a safety inspection i.e. my new Toyota Yaris. But if I'm buying used it's buyer beware....I take it to my mechanic for an inspection. They don't ask for an inspection to get register??

None here but I sure have noticed A LOT of BAD MUFFLERS since my state did away with emissions inspections. We complained and got our way to get rid of it, but in exchange there are a lot of cars out there that should NOT be on the road. The problem having a law like that in place, however, is forcing people to PAY either for the test OR to replace parts when they don't have any money...therefore, losing their ability to drive their car. In this economy that probably doesn't fly with 98% of the people on the road. Can you blame them?
