Aptera Founders Ousted in Showdown With Auto Vets: Report

Reuters -- The co-founders of Aptera Motors, Steve Fambro and Chris Anthony, did not leave the three-wheeled electric car startup by choice, according to a report this morning over at Wired’s Autopia. Rather, unnamed sources tell the blog that Fambro and Anthony were pushed out in “a boardroom confrontation between the original founders and the auto industry veterans” brought onto the Aptera executive team last year.

Darryl Siry, former marketing chief for electric car startup Tesla Motors, writes that “the first sign of a rift” at the company may have been the design shift Aptera announced shortly after hiring Paul Wilbur as president and CEO in September 2008: Instead of bringing the futuristic-looking 2e (then called the Typ-1) to market by the end of that year, as previously planned, the startup

glad to see other people posting support of diesel hybrids making use of biodiesel. if a diesel can get 60mpg on it's own, a diesel hybrid would have a good shot at getting near 100mpg.

This is the way corporations are supposed to opperate. When people screw up, you get rid of them. I propose that the U.S. electorate take action and get rid of all current members of Congress.

I believe the most promising hybrid out there is a diesel/electric one. If we have biodiesel and can make it at home and buy it. Then, as I have here, a wind generator, you would be set up.

The diesel electric hybrid sounds intriguing. Too bad there are personal problems there.

I liked one of the options they were going to field. A diesel electric hybrid. Where a diesel engine powered an electric generator to power the drive.

Lets face it, any small company that comes up with a really great "green car" will be bought out by one of the larger companies & they'll either tout it as their own or kill it.

You have quite a lot of this in new, startup companies. Once they get big there becomes a stated order of succession. This particular company may not live to see that.

With the stimulus $ taken by Tesla & Fisker and Biden throwing in a closed GM auto plant in Del the US is footing the bill for companies outside the US. Obama, Pelosi, and Reid are pushing plug-ins because of the massive Trade&Cap taxes that will add $ to the treasury. Batteries are not perfected yet. Internal problems at Aptera are because of a 3 wheel vehicle; 3 wheel golf carts and ATV were taken out of service because of the high rates of accidents. What about our NSTB saying 3-wheelers are extremely dangerous and unstable on the highways. Funny how this is political. DOE has put $ Millions toward grants, low interest loans, & loan guarantees........we will be socked with more debt.

loo9ks like the auto industry vets are of the mind set, "we have always done it this way and we will always get the same results." got to think outside of the box with some new ideas to get different results. prime example GM. and their old ways which drove them down the tubes.
