Now it's "business groups" chance to complain. When these kinds of ads ran last spring, they were funded by big oil.

So many people wrong here.... so little time....Sorry Chuck wrong.... "His policies are similar to FDR's, higher taxes, redistribution of wealth, etc and it didn't work then either." WRONG... Actually under Reagan/Bush/Bush, the wealth of the middle class was redistributed --- to the wealthy....and away from the Americans who actually worked for a living....
Reagan/Bush/Bush and even Clinton helped send many of the well-paying jobs over seas.... and in many cases PAID the companies to do it.....
As to higher taxes, that is ludicrous.... federal taxes are at an all-time low compared to earlier eras....... it is just that the GOP likes to give taxpayer money directly to the companies and corporations now and have them escape most of their normal taxes.

I think maybe several million emails and letters to the 'd'ecrepid 'c'ity people should send a message that we do not want this! Try it, you may like it! Tell them what you feel about this latest tax gouge!

The equation is pretty simple: raise business taxes on energy use equals an increase in consumer goods that are affected by these taxes.

Raising business taxes to lower business taxes was always an idiotic proposition. Most likely increased energy taxes will lead to higher gas prices and lower exploration for new sources. The real problem is that the government is in a bind since it has spent a trillion dollars of stimulus on pet projects and boondoggles and now with a massive deficit has nothing left to actually spend on improving the economy and helping ordinary people.

Higher energy taxes will hurt the lower income people more than the rich. Raising taxes in these economic times will further slow the recovery.

Big businesess are theiving scoundrals. They pocketed uncountable millions or even billions of dollars despite causing the worst economic disaster since the Great Depression. They are fightiong tooth and nail to extend the Bush tax credits to pad their already over stuffed wallets. I guess this is what we get when we allow these corporate thieves to stuff the pockets of Washington politicians.

Let the gas prices go up! Maybe then you'll start feeling the need of changing your mind about renewable energy, green alternatives and taking care of the planet. How does "drill, baby, drill" sounds now?

The business groups, including the National Association of Manufacturers and the National Federation of Independent Business, worry that higher energy taxes would force up prices and make their members less competitive.
More tax during a recession is just what we don't need. This guy must be out of his gored.

They always say there are only two things that you can count on in your life; Death and Taxes. Get used to it, because they are not going anywhere soon. My only hope is that we get some type of benefit from the raised taxes that helps me out in some other way.

We need to end the spending and the tax breaks for the wealthy (people and corporations) so we can balance the checkbook. We need politicians who can make the hard decisions and not just pander to those who pay them via campaign contributions.

obama wants to give tax credits to working class folks, but raise taxes to a level higher than the tax break. the result, more Money from your pocket in the unstable economic times.
Hey, why not create more jobs for illegal aliens while youre at it. Since youre letting them be here and giving them everything else . . .
Here's hoping he's a 1 term president.

In general, when taxes are raised on energy it will raise the cost of every day living. If it cost more to transport goods and supplies of companies, it will be passed onto the consumer. Companies need profit to reinvest into the company for more efficentcy and effective methods to give the consumer what the consumer will be willing to pay.

If manufacturers had to pay the full and true costs of their entire process, we would not be seeing this response... Waste energy and pay a higher tax... should be an incentive to become more efficient, so if business would spend the money on improvements instead of lobbyists, we would all be better off...

If you don't want to pay for these things with taxes, then make every road a toll road, every school a private school that requires tuition, every fire station run by volunteers and all crime fought by private detectives.

Gnusman53, couldn't agree with you more. If people would just first look at the plan first instead of the political party that proposes it. Consider the idea and not the source where it originates.

Obama is a committed leftist. He's not going to offer tax breaks (notice, tax BREAKS not tax CUTS) unless he's raising them somewhere else. He wants you to watch the birdie while he raises taxes over here. Also, he's only considering this because his poll numbers are abysmal. He's raise taxes all day long if he thought he could get away with it.
