Crude-oil drops closer to $90 a barrel

The Wall Street Journal -- HONG KONG (MarketWatch) — Benchmark U.S. crude-oil prices edged back down to near the $90-a-barrel level in electronic trading Wednesday as concerns over Spain and scaled-back expectations for Chinese economic stimulus lifted the dollar and hurt Asian stocks, as well as U.S. equity futures.

The July contract for light, sweet crude-oil futures CLN2 -0.39% fell 47 cents, or 0.5%, to $90.29 a barrel on Globex by early afternoon in Tokyo.

The drop extended a 10-cent loss for the futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange Tuesday.

The drop came as the ICE dollar index DXY +0.09% , which measures the greenback against a basket of six global currency counterparts, rose to 82.610 from 82.468 in North American trade Tuesday.

The price at the pump jump 20¤ in many places here. We should be paying around $2:30 a gallon at the pump.
