Environmental Change: If I Were the New CEO of Chevron

San Francisco Gate -- If I were the new CEO of Chevron, I would stop listening to the lawyers and bring the engineers into the boardroom to develop a strategy to invest a good portion of last year’s record $24 billion profit into inventing solutions to the adverse environmental and social impacts of the company’s operations around the globe.

It is clear that Chevron’s historical reliance upon litigation to get what it wants is being eclipsed by new activist strategies that have effectively boxed Chevron into a corner.

Chevron appears to be on the verge of being handed down a judgment in Ecuador that could total $27 billion for polluting practices of Texaco operations dating back to 1984 – but which Chevron’s assumed liability for in 2001 when it swallowed up Texaco.

They hire the person to handle it the way they not the way we want. I don't think litigation in Ecuador for something that happened 25 years ago is a very good gage of where the CEO wants to take the company.

So what gives with that. Also Personally I'm concerned with some recent dealings involving other international companies. What is their link with Winn Dixie and their gas disc. card now they've announced reducing that disc. in half. mainly good at Chevron stations. However, its impact was way overblown. The expensive cleanup process that was required of Exxon was ridiculous. Several studies since then have shown the environments affected by oil spills recover on their own in about 5-7 years without any type of intervention. The expensive cleaning methods that the EPA required result in 15-20 years before environmental recovery. Just another example of extreme environmental crap based on no scientific studies has and continues to hurt America. The Global warming BS falls in the same category.

Corporations exist for two reasons, to maximize profits for the shareholders, and to remove personal liability for the executives. Remember, Capitalism is only an economic model.
