Hyundai is a good automaker. There vehicles have this ability to last for a long time. The price is low, but one reason for that is because of the warranty. The longer it lasts, the more the owner/driver takes it into the garage for care.
Of course today, a large majority of automakers have also adopted this idea with longer warrantys so they can also have the owners/drivers take thin into their own garages as well.

I won't trust too much the old one but since 2 or 3 years, they definitely made big improvement and again, some are made in North America by North American people....

I bought a 2008 Sonata in September of 2007, its a very nice car. I talked to several Hyundai owners before my purchase, all recommended Hyundai. They have the best warranty in the industry. To date I only had to take my car in for regular maintenance.
I like the looks of the new Sonata, and am looking forward to seeing and test driving the Hybrid when it comes to the dealers.

Hyundai is a force to reckoned with, no doubt.
Here some dealers double the warranty to 20 years and 200,000 miles. No one comes close.
Price is reasonable, features are abundant and long term reliability is steady.
The resales value is low but that could change.
Driving a Hyundai and then driving a competitor, i.e. Lexus, BMW, Ford, GM and you realize how Hyundai keeps cost down, they just do not ride as good as these other vehicles.
But then again Hyundai is thousands of dollars less expensive.
But remember when you buy one of theirs you take jobs and money from the U.S.

Hey BlueTucson, makes me want to go out and buy after reading your remarks and the article.
The new Toyota!!
Although, I have to admit, I have a '93 Camry in my driveway with 256,000 miles on it with the orginal motor and trans.
And running 60 on the highway, gets 35 +.

Well Hyundai did prove it not by Sonata but by the quality of many Hyundai ... it is not "bottom feeder" and it is swimming among others although not standing out, yet...

I have to agree. I purchased a 2010 version and never regretted it - until I saw the 2011 - but then the 2010s were discounted heavily so got a great deal.

Surprisingly, I've been hearing alot of good things about Hyundai, too. What impressed me most was their unique purchase plan, geared to the US market, offering to take back purchased cars, with no penalty, to buyers who lose their jobs. Great idea.

I've been driving a Hyundai for five years. I haven't had any major problems with it, and if I did, it's still under warranty.
When comparing vehicles, I found that the Hyundai offered more performance and features for roughly the same price as their competitors. I believe that Hyundai is following the same strategy that Toyota followed a few decades ago to become the top auto maker. They are focusing on quality and selling their cars for less than they could to get them out there and build up their reputation. I suspect that once their reputation is established, you will see a sharp increase in their price relative to the competition. For now, though, they are a great deal and very dependable.

We have bought 4 New Hyundais 2 SantaFe's and 2 fully equipped Tucsons since 2004. Never had a problem with any of them, and they are built in AMERICA by AMERICANS!
Traded a month ago and bought a 2010 Nissan Rogue well equiped because 2 of our friends love theirs. They have had NO problems at all and OUR White House, Congress, and Senate doesn't own them!!!! They also use none of our tax dollars!!! WOW Auto companies not owned by us taxpayers and the idiots in Washington. WE equally like the Nissan.

I have at least 3 friends who have all bought and driven Hyundais.
They had their problems, but overall, I have the impression that they are reliable, affordable automobiles.
As far as I know, they haven't tried to hide any potential recall-worthy problems...

As long as there are many different vehicles out there, some will be better than others and some will be worse, and it is not always the same cars in the same slots.

We've had a Hyundai for 4 years and we love it. We would have bought American, but there really was no American SUV in the size we wanted, so we went with the Tucson. Maybe people are starting to wake up and realize that a Hyundai is a great value, and a great alternative to the Japanese deathtraps.

The only car I've rented (on a trip) that didn't have any problems was a Hyundai Elantra several years ago. It was in California and I did quite a bit of freeway driving between towns. I don't travel a lot, but still it was very much appreciated and I enjoyed driving it.
